Recommendations for B application based on its availability in soil

Based on B status in soils, they can be classified into six categories and correspondingly
suitable recommendation measures are given in Table 17.

Note: Above mentioned recommendations are for field crops (cereals, oilseeds and pulse

crops). However, B application is recommended in soils with 0.9 mg B kg soils.

Crop and cropping system-wise recommendations for boron application

Recommended doses for B application in different crops and cropping systems are given in
Table 18.

Maize  Foliar spray of 0.3% borax 30 days after sowing is
recommended.
Mustard/ Rye  Apply 1.5-2.0 kg B ha as basal dose.

Sunflower  In light textured soils, apply 1.25 kg B ha followed by
two foliar spray of 0.2% borax twice during flowering
stage.
