Wheat-soybean  Apply 5 kg Zn / ha + 5 t FYM / poultry manure in black and medium
black soils. This amount is sufficient for three cropping systems.
Apply FYM either in rice or soybean crop before onset of monsoon.
 Apply 5 kg Zn / ha mixed with 200 kg FYM to the first crop in
soybean-wheat cropping system grown on medium black and alluvial
soils. Zinc sulphate mixed with FYM needs to be kept for 30 days.
Wheat-Jowar Apply 15 kg zinc / ha to wheat crop in every third year in wheat-Jowar
                                    cropping system.
Maize and maize Apply 3.75 kg Zn / ha to maize crop. Even if the deficiency symptoms
based cropping appear, then provide two foliar spray of 0.5% zinc sulphate hepta
system hydrate or 0.3% zinc sulphate mono hydrate mixed with lime solution.
Jowar/Bajra  Apply 3.75 kg Zn / ha in jowar/bajra crop grown in mixed red and
black soil. This dose is sufficient for two cropping systems.
 Apply 5 kg Zn / ha or 2.5 kg Zn / ha + 12.5 t FYM for every third
year in zinc deficient black clayey soil.
Kodo, Ragi, Bajra Apply 2.5 kg Zn / ha at the time of sowing for kodo, ragi and bajra
crops grown in poor Zn soils.
Pulse crops Apply 2.5 kg Zn / ha for both irrigated and rainfed pulse crops
Pigeon pea Apply 3.0 kg Zn / ha as zinc fertilizer
Gram Apply 3.0 kg Zn / ha as zinc fertilizer in chickpea
Soybean- Apply 5 kg Zn / ha mixed with 200 kg FYM to the first crop in
gram/Black gram- soybean-chickpea and black gram-chickpea cropping systems grown on
gram medium black and alluvial soils. Zinc sulphate mixed with FYM needs
to be kept for 30 days before application.
Gram-onion Apply 3.5kg Zn / ha as Zn fertilizer in alluvial to deep black soils.
Cotton Apply 10.0 kg Zn / ha as Zn fertilizer in every fourth cotton crop grown
in black soil. In alluvial soils, application of 5.0 kg Zn/ ha is sufficient
                                    for every third crop.
Cotton-Jowar Apply 3.5kg zinc / ha as zinc fertilizer to cotton crop in cotton-Jowar
cropping system grown in zinc deficient soils.
Potato based Apply 3.0 kg Zn / ha as Zn fertilizer in potato crop grown in soils
cropping system having low carbon content.
Lime crops Application of three foliar spray of 0.3% zinc sulphate hepta hydrate or
0.2% zinc sulphate mono hydrate solution is recommended. In case of
excessive zinc deficiency, apply 0.45% zinc sulphate hepta hydrate or
0.3% zinc sulphate mono hydrate solution in the month of April, May,
                                    June, August and September month.
Guava Apply foliar spray of 06-1.0% zinc sulphate hepta hydrate or 04-0.7%
zinc sulphate mono hydrate solution neutralized with lime in Guava
                                    crop.

Tips for zinc management in crops

 Zinc sulphate hepta hydrate and zinc sulphate mono hydrate, containing 21 and 33% zinc
respectively, are equally effective in mitigatingZn deficiency in all crops and soils.
Because zinc sulphate is the cheapest and most easily available source to meet zinc
                  requirement in any situation.
